Dry Needling uses acupuncture needles to very specifically release muscular tension and restore muscles to their naturally pliable and relaxed state. It works in a similar way to massage however it is considered to have a strong anti-inflammatory action due to the effects it has at the level of the brain and nervous system. This makes dry needling particularly suited to anyone with high levels of inflammation, anyone who is particularly sensitive and those patients who find that massage makes them more stiff or sore instead of less so.
Both our myotherapists Hayley Atkins and Elise Pook use dry needling as one of tools in their tool kits.
Just a few of the conditions that may respond well to dry needling include:
Tennis Elbow
Golfer's Elbow
Achilles tendonitis
Deep hip pain that won't release with other techniques
