Dr Carrie, our kids only Chiropractor will return on Wednesdays from the 13th of January. Her gorgeous baby boy Quinn will accompany her in his carrier so if you would like to meet Quinn ... you'll have to book an appointment for your kids! You had also better get in quick before he finds some place better to be ;-)

Hugs (and thanks) to everyone who has supported us this year. Bear hugs (a particularly huge thank you) to everyone who has sent their family and friends to come and visit us. It makes us feel warm and fuzzy to receive your referrals so thanks for making us so happy this year. We hope you are able to spend this festive season enjoying precious moments with those you love, making wonderful memories however you desire and choosing to laugh in the moment when apparent disaster or insult occurs rather than having to wait to see the funny side years later ;-) Christmas opening days
![]() Finally the sun is back (well, at least intermittently in Geelong). Now is a great time to start getting outside and topping up your Vitamin D levels naturally. Healthy vitamin D levels are necessary to have strong healthy bones, a healthy immune system, prevent cancer, sustain good energy levels and are really really important in preventing and treating depression and keeping us happy. Unfortunately Geelong is known to be one of the worst places in Australia for Vitamin D deficiency. If you have been feeling a bit down over winter - it is probably not just 'in your head'. To get the recommended daily intake of Vitamin D you require an average of 20 minutes per day of fully body (yes, that is full body!) exposure to direct sunlight i.e. no sunscreen. If you are not used to much sunlight or are particularly fair skinned, it is recommended that you gradually increase your exposure to avoid burning as burning is considered to predispose you to skin cancer. If there is just no way you can get that much Vitamin D or you feel you are already deficient - please discuss this with your chiropractor or other natural health care professional as there are particularly effective ways to get you back on track fast and keep you heading toward a healthy, happy summer. If you are going to do something, get all the best information and do it properly. Make the most of the sun while it shines to get your mojo going and start 2016 happy and healthy. Many of us today find ourselves constantly 'on'. This is dangerous to your health!
If you are always on edge, find it hard to wind down and get to sleep at night, sleep lightly and are woken easily, have poor digestion, suffer anxiety (and depression if this has been going on for some time), are jumpy (boo!), are sensitive to bright lights (would you consider going outside without your sunnies on?), get angry or aggressive easily (road rage? - never!), have forward head posture with tight muscles on the front of your chest and rounded hunched shoulders or a number of other symptoms, you may be suffering from Your nervous system can be broken into 2 parts - the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous systems. These parts are both vital to your survival and health but only one part functions well at a time. In essence, your parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for resting and digestion When you are in optimal health this is the most 'active' part of the nervous system most of the time, particularly at night. Your sympathetic nervous system is your fight or flight system. If is there for protection and is only meant to operate for short periods of time - if you were being chased by a predator for example. In life today, many people find they can not switch this sympathetic system off and allow their parasympathetic system to take over. First, you should see your chiropractor and, if depression is a major component of your problem, seek the help of a great psychologist. Your chiropractor will assess your nervous system to work out how best to help you balance your sympathetic / parasympathetic balance. There are many things that can be done and many exercises that can be specifically tailored to you by your chiropractor to help you get on top of this problem. There are also a few things you can do at home to help yourself - these are detailed below.
