If a joint is subluxated, your brain may be receiving
Chiropractic adjustments help to normalise the position and motion at the joint and in surrounding tissues. This allows the joint to give the brain correct information about where it is and what is going on in the body. A deep adjustment (which is what a Gonstead Chiropractic adjustment aims to be) also helps to reset this information in the brain. Have you ever had your phone or computer stop working properly because it is overloaded with too much going on at once? To fix it, often the best option is to hit the reset button (or turn it off and back on which does the same thing). The human body works in much the same way. If you overload it (eg. stress, toxins in food and the air, too much or too little exercise...) it tries to fix itself in the best way it can. Sometimes the best option is just to hit the reset button - this is what a chiropractic adjustment does. If you put too many appliances on the one circuit in your house, you will start to blow fuses. In your body, if you add in too many stresses at once, your body will subluxate. Once this happens, the fastest way to reset your nervous system is with a chiropractic adjustment. To get the most out of your chiropractic adjustment, it is also helpful to try to determine which stresses caused the initial overload and rectify those as much as possible to limit recurrences. Some people suffer with the same subluxations every time. I suspect this is usually because we tend to overload the same systems in our body or have the similar contributing stressors each time.
Are you in need of a reset?
